Primary care doctors will strike on April 9 and April 23 in Galicia, Spain; anticipate disruptions to healthcare services.

Primary care doctors have organized the strikes for April 9 and April 23. The doctors are affiliated with the Galician Inter-Union Confederation-Health. The stoppages will impact all primary care centers in Galicia, including appointments and procedures. The strikes are part of an ongoing campaign where doctors are demanding a maximum of 30 patients per day, along with hiring additional staff. Emergency rooms will still operate during these stoppages.

Expect heightened security across South Korea following North Korean missile tests on April 7 and April 8.

North Korea launched two ballistic into the Sea of Japan on April 7 and April 8. These launches follow a recent increase in regional tensions. Historically, these kinds of missile launches have provoked responses from South Korea and the United States including heightened military presence, heightened police presence in cities, as well as both emergency and military drills. The European Union’s Entry/Exit System rollout will complete by April 10, likely causing travel delays across Europe.

The European Union’s Entry/Exit System (EES), which began rolling out on October 12, 2025, will be fully operational across all Schengen Area countries by April 10. The EES requires travelers from outside the Schengen Area to register biometric data and verify the data again on future uses. Before this full rollout, only about 50% of travelers had to use the EES. Certain locations saw wait times increase by up to 70% during the EES rollout, causing multi-hour delays.

Cholera is a bacterial infection spread through contaminated food or water that can cause severe dehydration if untreated. The Ministry of Health classifies the situation as an epidemic and expands sanitation and response efforts. Transmission risk remains elevated in areas with poor sanitation, overcrowding, and seasonal flooding.

Blue-collar workers will strike in Montreal, Canada, from April 15 to April 18. 

CUPE Local 301, a union representing over 6,000 blue-collar workers in Montreal, plans from April 15 to April 18. The union organized the strike after negotiations to increase the city’s workers’ salaries had stalled. Services that will continue during the strike are public space cleaning, water maintenance, sewage maintenance, and major road repairs. Emergency services will also remain in operation throughout the strike.

US President Donald Trump issued an ultimatum demanding that Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz by April 7 or face increased airstrikes. Iranian officials have refused to meet the deadline, so increased US-Israeli airstrikes will likely lead to further retaliatory Iranian airstrikes on the UAE. Previous strikes targeted heavily populated areas and airports and also prompted widespread airspace closures.

Taxi drivers will strike in Phuket, Thailand, on April 6 against rising fuel prices.

At least 4,000 taxi drivers will strike on the island of Phuket, Thailand on April 6. The taxi drivers demand government action to reduce fuel prices, as the rising prices are heavily disrupting taxi profits. Transport in Phuket, Thailand’s largest island and one of its most popular destinations for beach resorts, is almost entirely dominated by taxi services, with infrequent bus services for major destinations.

France will face airport disruptions on April 6 as EasyJet staff strike, causing delays and cancellations.

The National Union of Autonomous Trade Unions (UNAC) in France announced a one-day strike on April 6 across airports in France. The strike involves Easylet personnel, including cabin crew. The affected airports include Paris Orly and Charles-de-Gaulle, Nice, Nantes, Lyon, and Bordeaux. Since the UNAC Union filed for the strike, Easylet officials are attempting to halt, postpone, and limit the impact of the strike.

Intense weather will hit multiple cities across Japan from April 4-7, bringing strong winds and heavy rain.

A low-pressure system will impact southern Japan from April 4-7. Flights, rails, and road travel may be disrupted by rain and poor visibility. Flooding is likely in low-lying areas, and strong winds may cause damage or blow away unsecured items. Gale advisories, meaning winds of 39–54 MPH, have been issued for Kadena, Kitanakagusuku, Uruma, Yomitan, Onna, Chatan, and additional high wave and thunderstorm advisories have been issued for Okinawa.
