Incident Details

A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Kyushu, Japan, on July 28, triggering the highest level on the Shindo seismic intensity scale. More than 10 aftershocks have been recorded, and about 300,000 residents were ordered to evacuate. At least 50 people were injured, while damage to roads, rail services, and airports has disrupted transportation. Additional aftershocks could cause further structural damage, power outages, and localized disruptions to communications and essential services.
