Transportation workers will participate in a nationwide strike across the Philippines from August 10–12, disrupting transportation services.

Jeepney drivers affiliated with the Federation of Drivers and United Transportation Terminals (Manibela) have launched a strike to urge the government to address rising fuel prices. The group is also calling for a fare increase across all public utility vehicles to help drivers cope with higher operating costs. The nationwide transport disruption is expected to place additional pressure on the government’s free-ride program, lead to travel delays, and increase demand for alternative modes of transportation.

A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Kyushu, Japan, on July 28, triggering the highest level on the Shindo seismic intensity scale. More than 10 aftershocks have been recorded, and about 300,000 residents were ordered to evacuate. At least 50 people were injured, while damage to roads, rail services, and airports has disrupted transportation. Additional aftershocks could cause further structural damage, power outages, and localized disruptions to communications and essential services.

The Stockholm Pride Parade begins at 1:00 PM on August 1 in Stockholm, Sweden; expect transportation delays and increased security.

The Stockholm Pride Parade, Scandinavia’s largest Pride parade will draw approximately 50,000 participants. The parade will begin at 1:00 PM at Norr Mälarstrand and end at Slussplan. Authorities will increase security and law enforcement presence along the parade route. Streets along the parade route will be fully closed to vehicle traffic during the event. Expect disruptions including traffic congestion, delays to public transportation, and heavy pedestrian traffic in central Stockholm.

Wildfires continue to burn across northern Ontario, Canada; expect evacuations and transportation disruptions.

More than 180 wildfires are burning across northern Ontario, forcing mandatory evacuations in several communities. Fire hazards remain with hot, dry, and windy conditions continuing to fuel wildfire activity. In addition to large-scale evacuations, localized disruptions such as road closures, reduced visibility from heavy smoke, power outages, transportation delays, and interruptions to essential services are expected as emergency crews work to contain the fires.

Major disruptions and heightened security measures are expected during the San Fermín Festival in Pamplona, Spain, from July 6–14.

The San Fermín Festival in Pamplona runs from July 6 to July 14, with Running of the Bulls events beginning July 7 at approximately 8:00 AM, drawing over one million visitors. Crowding, high-speed bulls, alcohol use, and restricted movement increase injury risks and limit emergency access. Transportation and emergency services will be strained by festival congestion.
