Chikungunya is transmitted through the bites of infected Aedes mosquitoes. Authorities have fumigated approximately 5,000 homes, and expanded mosquito-control operations. Additional locally acquired cases remain possible as rainy season conditions favor mosquito activity.

Costa Rica confirmed its first locally transmitted chikungunya outbreak since 2017 in Guanacaste; further spread is possible.

Renfe rail staff are scheduled to conduct 24-hour national strikes across Spain on June 29 and July 15. The strike has been called by Sindicato Ferroviario over concerns regarding the future of Renfe Mercancías, the state owned freight railroad.
