Political protesters are expected to gather around Taksim Square, Istanbul, Turkey, on July 7 at 7:00 PM; heightened security expected.

Protesters will gather to denounce the NATO Summit occurring in Ankara, Turkey, from July 7 to July 8 . Hundreds of protesters are expected to participate, resulting in localized travel delays in Istanbul’s city center. Clashes with local authorities are likely, as the Turkish government has banned protests, is using enhanced force at protest sites (e.g. tear gas), and has arrested hundreds of protesters.

Millions of spectators will travel across France for the Tour de France, from July 4 to July 26.

The Tour de France is an annual three week professional cycling race, with 22 teams, 176 cyclists, and thousands of supporting staff. This event attracts between 10 -12 million international spectators, visitors, and media.The increase in travelers will cause traffic disruptions around southeastern France. This year’s route will start in Barcelona, Spain and will end at the Champs-Élysées, Paris. Cities hosting the starting and ending stages will experiences the most intense traffic delays and extended road closures.

Pride parade is expected to attract tens of thousands in Rome, Italy, on June 20 at 3:30 PM.

The parade will begin at the Piazza della Repubblica and advance to the city center of Rome. The march is expected to cause localized travel delays and road closures, specifically around the Piazza della Repubblica. This march will happen in conjunction with Rome’s other pride festivities on June 20, increasing the number of expected attendees to potentially hundreds of thousands.

Unionized airline employees will go on strike across three airports in Paris, France, on June 18; expect travel delays.

Employees associated with the French Democratic Confederation of Labour (CFDT) will strike for 24 hours on June 18. This strike will affect Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), Paris Orly Airport (ORY), and Paris Le Bourget Airport (LBG), impacting ground services. Local media reports that another protest at CDG in Terminal could start at 10:00 AM.
