The Quilpituk wildfire has expanded in Central Okanagan, Canada, on August 7, prompting additional evacuation orders.

The Quilpituk wildfire burning west of Okanagan Lake expanded significantly on August 7th, prompting the Central Okanagan Emergency Operations Centre (COEOC) to extend evacuation orders to an additional 321 properties in the Central Okanagan Regional District. Additional evacuation orders or alerts remain possible if fire activity intensifies. Road closures, reduced visibility from smoke, and localized disruptions are expected in affected communities.

Tropical Depression Luis and the southwest monsoon will bring rain and strong winds to Luzon Island, Philippines, from August 3-6.

Tropical Depression Luis made landfall in northern Luzon on August 3 at 5:30 PM, delivering torrential downpours and wind gusts up to 46 mph. Transport workers in Honduras threaten an indefinite national strike starting August 3 if August 2 negotiations fail; expect travel disruptions.

Honduran public transport leaders have threatened a nationwide strike on August 3 if the government does not agree to pay roughly 180 million lempiras in outstanding compensatory bonuses and impose stricter security measures against gang extortion. Wildfires beginning July 22 and July 23 have spread to areas near Bordeaux, France and Madrid, Spain; exercise extreme caution.
