Nationwide ground worker strike on July 25-28 is expected to cause flight delays and cancellations across Portugal; further strikes expected.

Menzies Aviation ground workers associated with the Metallurgical and Related Industries Union (SIMA) will strike nationwide from 12:00 AM July 25-11:59 PM July 28. This is the first of five strikes, which will be held during subsequent weekends through August. The strike is being organized to demand improved wages and working conditions, and is expected to cause delays and flight cancellations across the country. 

Avoid all non-essential travel over the coming hours in Spain and Portugal amid a power outage on April 28.

A major power outage across Spain and Portugal began around 12:30 PM on April 28. Air and train travel has been suspended until further notice. Street lights have turned off, causing heavy traffic in urban centers. Phone lines in some areas are down, and authorities are urging people to only use cell phones for emergency calls. Electricity providers have estimated restoring power will take 6 to 10 hours.

On December 6, healthcare workers will strike for 24-hours nationwide in Portugal.

On December 6, healthcare workers from the Social Security Institute (ISS) and National Health Service (SNS) will strike for 24-hours. Disruptions to hospital and clinical services will take place, but minimum services will be offered. The purpose of the strike will be to demand the hiring of additional medical staff, improved opportunities for professional development, and better working conditions.
