Japan’s Sakurajima Volcano erupted on April 11 and will affect travel over the coming days.

The Japan Meteorological Agency issued a level 3 warning out of a 5-level scale for the Sakurajima Volcano. The volcano released major plumes of ash and debris that will affect areas within a 1.2-mile radius of the Minamidake summit and Showa craters. Volcanic ash in the area delayed and canceled flights and local transportation in Kagoshima. Debris covering roadways will lead to unsafe driving conditions and delays over the coming days.

France will face airport disruptions on April 6 as EasyJet staff strike, causing delays and cancellations.

The National Union of Autonomous Trade Unions (UNAC) in France announced a one-day strike on April 6 across airports in France. The strike involves Easylet personnel, including cabin crew. The affected airports include Paris Orly and Charles-de-Gaulle, Nice, Nantes, Lyon, and Bordeaux. Since the UNAC Union filed for the strike, Easylet officials are attempting to halt, postpone, and limit the impact of the strike.

Severe weather across Canada causes airlines to cancel and delay flights until Tuesday, March 31. 

Canada is experiencing thunderstorms, severe rainfall, and strong winds, causing major airlines to cancel or delay flights.
So far, there have been 98 cancellations and 535 delays in flights. The storm is expected to intensify and cause additional delays. Affected cities include Quebec, Edmonton, Ottawa, Toronto, and Calgary. This storm is expected to continue through Tuesday, March 31.

Peru will hold general elections on April 12 amid political instability; expect security disruptions.

Exercise caution and expect heightened security when traveling in Peru due to the general election being held on April 12 amid political instability. This instability, coupled with economic hardships, has sparked protests since 2025. Due to this, Peruvian President Dina Boluarte has called for general elections to be held, which may cause tensions to rise.

Expect travel disruptions due to heavy rainfall and strong winds to continue across Brazil until February 27.

At least 14 people have died due to heavy rainfall as flash flooding continues to sweep across Brazil. Brazil’s National Institute of Meteorology will maintain its highest weather alert in São Paulo and the surrounding states, with lighter rain expected through early March. São Paulo International Airport and São Paulo Congonhas Airport remain operational but are experiencing delays and cancellations.
