Blue-collar workers will strike in Montreal, Canada, from April 15 to April 18. 

CUPE Local 301, a union representing over 6,000 blue-collar workers in Montreal, plans from April 15 to April 18. The union organized the strike after negotiations to increase the city’s workers’ salaries had stalled. Services that will continue during the strike are public space cleaning, water maintenance, sewage maintenance, and major road repairs. Emergency services will also remain in operation throughout the strike.

Labor union strike will cause heavy disruption to public transportation nationwide in The Netherlands on April 14.

The Christian National Trade Union Federation (CNV), the Federation of Dutch Trade Unions (FNV),  and other unions have called for a 24-hour strike across the Netherlands on April 14. This strike is a follow up to a previous protest against a wage freeze for government workers. The CNV and FNV unions represent many public transport workers, and are often involved in strikes that significantly disrupt rail and buses. Expect heavy delays for public transportation across the Netherlands.

A nationwide blackout is causing disruptions across Cuba on March 16.

A nationwide blackout in Cuba on March 16 is disrupting critical infrastructure, such as hospitals, public transportation, and home appliances. Authorities state that there was a “complete disconnection” of the power grid. There is no information available on the blackout’s duration. This marks Cuba’s third major blackout in four months stemming from the United States energy blockade.

Airstrikes in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, United Arab Emirates, have temporarily closed airspace and heightened security across the country.

The UAE has extended its shelter in place orders after reported Iranian attacks on Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Doha on February 28-March 1. A drone attack hit Zayed International in Abu Dhabi, leaving one dead and seven injured, and a reported airstrike hit Dubai International, leaving four injured. Other buildings in Dubai, such as the Fairmont Hotel on Palm Jumeirah, have been struck by falling missile debris, causing fires. At least four people were reported injured.
