Expect travel delays and heightened security due to the London Marathon in London, United Kingdom, from April 23-April 27.

The 46th London Marathon will draw more than 50,000 runners and hundreds of thousands of spectators. Heightened security will be present along the route. Road closures will affect traffic and pedestrians along the marathon routes. The three starting points are Charlton Way, St. John’s Park, and Shooter’s Hill Road, and the finish line is The Mall in St. James’ Park. Expect disruptions from April 23- April 27.

Expect heightened security across South Korea following North Korean missile tests on April 7 and April 8.

North Korea launched two ballistic into the Sea of Japan on April 7 and April 8. These launches follow a recent increase in regional tensions. Historically, these kinds of missile launches have provoked responses from South Korea and the United States including heightened military presence, heightened police presence in cities, as well as both emergency and military drills. Emergency services may be on high alert in response.

Train workers will strike in the Brasilia, Brazil on April 15, causing travel delays.

Train staff employed by Metro-DF, the Federal District’s train company, rescheduled the strike from March 30 to April 15. The strike will be held to pressure the government to respond to poor working conditions and understaffing. Ongoing negotiations with the government prompted them to postpone the strike. The strike will impact train services across Brasília.

Expect heightened security in Raysut, Oman after a drone attack on March 28.

Expect heightened security in Raysut, Oman after a drone attack on March 28. At least two Iranian drones struck the port of Raysut, damaging one crane and injuring at least one person. A shelter in place order has taken affect in the area. Heightened security forces presence and emergency services are likely to remain in the area until the damage is repaired. These drone attacks are a continuation of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East which began on February 28.

No Kings protesters will gather across Switzerland on March 28.

Democrats Abroad Switzerland is organizing protests in Basel, Geneva, and Zurich on March 28. The protests are calling for strengthened democracy in the United States and around the world. The Basel demonstration at St. Alban-Graben and the Geneva demonstration at the pedestrian zone Mont Blanc will begin at 10:00 AM, and the Zurich demonstration at Munsterhof Square will begin at 11:00 AM. Several hundred are expected to attend each protest, including Americans and Swiss citizens in solidarity.

Bus drivers will strike in London, United Kingdom from March 19-22, causing travel disruptions.

The trade union UNITE has organized strikes from March 19-22 among bus drivers of the East London Bus and Coach Company. The strikes are in response to reports of overworking and insufficient break areas. Affected areas will include central London, east London, and Essex. Routes 8, 25, 205, and 425 will be impacted, which will likely see significant delays.

Limited air travel resumed in the United Arab Emirates on March 4 following previous airspace closure due to conflict in the region.

Airlines have partially resumed operations in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. Travel delays will continue until at least March 6. Air travel slowed in the UAE after several airports were struck by Iran. Not all ongoing flights are commercial, as airlines are assisting with evacuations.
