Incident Details

Japan and South Korea are currently undergoing an extreme heatwave as of August 3 and are expected to end on August 9. Japan’s Environment Ministry has issued a heat stroke alert for western and southern regions of Japan after reporting temperatures of 104℉. The Korea Meteorological Administration reported a record high of 108℉ in Yangsan and forecast highs of 100.4℉ in Seoul. The heat wave will likely stress energy infrastructure in both countries. The heat wave will complicate earthquake relief operations in the southern city of Kumamoto, Japan.
