On 29 June from 19:00, activists are planning to protest in Syntagma Square in Athens and at the Kamara in Thessaloniki. Additional police will be deployed to the protest areas and clashes are possible. Localized transport disruptions are expected until the protests have concluded.
On 30 June unionized public and private healthcare workers will stage a nationwide strike. Work will be suspended from 08:00 local time to 20:00. The strike was organized to defend their freedom of choice and right to refuse vaccination or other treatment. Emergency services will still be available.
On 3-4 July employees of the Ouigo train service will participate in a 48-hour nationwide strike. Another nationwide strike will occur on 1 July by the railway workers union but Ouigo employees will not take part in this. The strike is to bring attention to working conditions and recognize the employees for their work.
Employees of the Administration of Airports and Auxiliary Services of Air Navigation are expected to stage an indefinite nationwide strike from 00:01 local time on 24 June due to the government’s failure to honor an agreement that was signed on 20 May. Workers are reportedly only attending humanitarian, transit, and medical emergency flights.
Red and orange alerts have been issued by these countries as hazardous storms, winds, and rainfall is expected to sweep throughout this region in Eastern Europe from 26 June onwards. These severe conditions are likely to cause flooding and electrical disruptions across many urban and rural areas.
On 24 June flooding at the Zurich Airport (ZRH) has led to the suspension of Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). Long-distance trains heading for the Airport will not make a stop at ZRH. The situation will be investigated for the severity of the flood and possible damages.
On 23 June a wildfire continues to grow in Yellowhead County (Alberta province). Portions of Highway 16 have been closed and evacuation orders are in place. The fire is expected to persist due to local temperature increases.
On 24 June, a protest is scheduled to occur at 10:00 local time. The protest is in response to a lack of employment opportunities for the youth of South Africa and will gather at Mary Fitzgerald Square before marching to the Constitutional Court along Hospital Street in Braamfontein.
On 22 June at 15:16 local time, a magnitude-5.3 earthquake struck 38 km southwest of Salamanca. The effects of the earthquake were most likely felt in the Coquimbo Region, Valparaiso Region, and the Santiago Metropolitan Region. No damage or casualties have been reported, however slight damage may be likely along with upcoming aftershocks.
Transit by train is expected to pause after a fatal accident involving a freight train and two passenger buses in the Helwan district on 21 June. As of 22 June, another fatal accident in Alexandria left approximately 45 passengers injured. Following the incidents are disruptions to rail service travel and vehicular traffic.
