Protests to Take Place in London, UK on July 5 and 7

Protests are planned at the Parliament Square on 5 July at 14:00 local time and on 7 July at 12:30 local time to denounce the proposed “Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill.” These events may be forcibly dispersed by police if demonstrators fail to adhere to COVID-19 related safety guidelines.

‘Kill the Bill’ Protests in Bristol, United Kingdom on July 3

A ‘Kill the Bill’ protest will be held at 14:00 local time on 3 July at College Green. The protest is in opposition to apparent police brutality at previous protests. This may cause disruption to travel within the area. Previous ‘Kill the Bill’ protests have been varied in levels of violence. Therefore, clashes between police and protestors are possible.

Increased Weather Warnings Across Europe Through July 2

Heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms is expected across countries in Europe until 2 July. Countries have increased warning levels due to the impact these storms will have. The effects of the storms are likely to cause travel disruptions for days after the storms clear.

Severe Weather Warning for South Africa Issued for July 1

Flooding and heavy rainfall through 1 July in the City of Cape Town and Theewaterskloof municipalities have caused the South African Weather Service to issue a level six orange warning. Heavy rainfall can cause further flooding in low-lying areas. At least 6,300 people have been affected by localized floods.

Women’s Rights Protests in Istanbul, Turkey on July 1

On 1 July women’s rights activists will gather at Tunel Square in Beyoglu District at 19:00 local time. Also in Ankara, a similar gathering will occur on Sakarya Street at 18:30. Participants will protest Turkey’s withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention. Expect unrest among the local population.

Anti-Government Protests in Brasilia, Brazil on June 30

On 30 June at 17:00 local time, a protest is supposed to gather outside the National Congress. The protest is for the impeachment of President Jair Bolsonaro and against the way the government handled the pandemic. The protest is expected to be peaceful, however, a heavy police presence is expected.

Severe Weather Warning for Southern Germany Through June 30

A severe weather warning was issued on 29 June for several southern states in Germany due to heavy rainfall. The torrential rain will likely cause more flooding in the area and additional travel disruptions. Rainfall has also resulted in downed trees and debris. Adverse weather is expected to continue in the coming days.

Stabbing in Erfurt, Germany on June 28 Leaves Behind Increased Security

On 28 June, two individuals were stabbed in Erfurt Germany leading to heightened security. The increased security has caused travel disruptions as police blocked off a tram station as it was the scene of the crime. After detaining the suspect, the heightened security is being maintained as this is the second major stabbing in Germany within the last three days.
