On September 15 in Poland the Międzygórze reservoir and the Stronie Śląskie reservoir were both overwhelmed by recent severe rains. The overflow resulted in Bystrzyca Kłodzka being evacuated. Temporary shelters have been set up in schools and the Gorzanów Palace. The flooding in southern Poland has caused two deaths and has led the Prime Minister to declare a state of emergency.
Beginning September 16, Bengaluru Kempegowda International Airport in India is implementing mpox screening measures for incoming travelers. These will include temperature checks and swab tests. Individuals with mpox symptoms will be transferred to a local hospital for isolation and care.
On September 15, Independence Day will be celebrated across Honduras, centered in Tegucigalpa. Parades will be taking place around the Estadio Nacional, and will likely block most travel within the capital. Due to recent protests and parade crowds, security will be heightened in most major cities.
The US Embassy issued a Weather Alert on September 13 warning of Typhoon Bebinca, expected to make landfall in Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangsu, and Shanghai early on September 16. The storm is forecasted to bring damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and risks of flooding and mudslides to coastal and inland areas of Eastern China from September 15-16.
Air traffic controllers will participate in strikes demanding wage adjustments across Argentina from September 6 to September 28, specifically September 7, 9, 11, 13, 16, 18, 20, 21, 23, 25, 27, and 28. All flights will be affected.
Cases of dengue fever, a disease transmitted by infected mosquito bites, are increasing in Costa Rica with 19,938 cases this year compared to 7,939 cases this time last year. The province of Alajuela is most affected. Symptoms include fever along with headaches, pain behind eyes, muscle/joint pain, rash, easy bruising, and/or nose or gum bleeding.
Beginning September 9, Mexican authorities will maintain heightened security posture in Culiacan and nearby areas of Sinaloa through September. Gang-violence has been prominent in the region with two dead and six injured as of September 11.
On September 11, protesters will gather in Mexico City to protest new judicial reform passed by the Mexican government. Protests will be located at the Former Senate Headquarters and the Senate of the Republic. These protests are expected to last through through the week.
On September 7, flooding from the recent heavy rains in Southern France collapsed a section of Route Nationale 134 in Pyrenees-Atlantiques, just outside Urdos. The collapse has rendered the section of RN 134 impassable, and travel between the region and the French-Spanish border will be extremely limited for the time being. No estimate was given on when the route would be fixed.
Until at least September 9, severe storms are expected to continue across Morocco. Thunderstorms with heavy rainfall and strong winds are expected to cause severe flooding and damage to infrastructure. Electricity, telecommunications, and travel are all likely to be affected. Draa-Tafilalet and Souss-Massa as well as other southernmost regions are expected to be most affected.
