On October 30, transportation workers with the National Transportation Board will go on strike nationwide. Workers responsible for operating airplanes, freight trucking, trains, boats, and taxis will demand higher wages and better union rights. Disruptions to both business and transportation are expected. Demonstrations may also take place outside government buildings. Clashes between protesters and police are possible.

Transportation workers will strike in the coming weeks in Peru, causing extensive public transportation disruptions.

Transportation workers plan to strike over the coming weeks in Peru to protest the lack of protections against violent crime and gang activity. Workers will strike nationwide on October 23 and will gather in Lima to march from Plaza dos de Mayo to the Peruvian Congress. Workers in other Peruvian cities also plan to strike on October 22 and October 31. Public transportation will be closed or inaccessible for the duration of each strike causing widespread disruptions. 

On October 24, protesters will gather in Lima, Peru to to mark Peruvian Construction Workers’ Day.

On October 24, approximately 50,000 demonstrators from the Federation of Construction Workers of Peru (FTCCP) will gather at the Plaza Dos de Mayo. The demonstration will mark Peruvian Construction Workers’ Day which will take place on October 25. The demonstrators will also call for increased security measures for the construction sector. The time of the protest is currently unknown.

On October 22, outbound flights at Brussels South Charleroi Airport in Belgium are canceled due to a staff strike.

Because of the staff shortage, authorities cannot ensure the safety of passengers and staff. Inbound flights will resume, but delays are possible. Flights are expected to resume on October 23.

Through at least October 20 in Mexico, severe storms will be affecting the regions of Veracruz, Tabasco, and Nuevo León.

Through at least October 20 in Mexico, severe weather is expected in various coastal regions due to a low pressure weather system. High winds, heavy rainfall, and flooding are all likely as a result of the storms. The regions of Veracruz, Tabasco, and Nuevo León will be the most heavily affected, with three casualties already reported in Nuevo León.

On October 20, expect severe weather including thunderstorms and flooding across Ireland due to Storm Ashley.

Storm Ashley issued nationwide weather warnings in Ireland for October 20. Orange wind warnings have been issued for Galway and Mayo and yellow warnings for the rest of Ireland. The storm is expected to bring coastal flooding, large waves, poor driving conditions, damage to buildings, power outages, and severe thunderstorms.

Over the coming days, severe weather will continue across France bringing heavy rain, flooding, and landslides.
