Protests in Seoul, South Korea to Take Place on July 4

The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions have scheduled to protest on 4 July in the Jung district of Seoul. At least 100,000 protestors are expected. The start time and duration have not yet been confirmed, but expect traffic delays in the area. Violent protests are uncommon in South Korea but not unheard of. A possibility for violence should not be ruled out.

Legislation in Turkey Affecting Bar Associations Spark Protests in Antalya, Izmir, and Istanbul on June 29

On June 29th and 30th, lawyers’ associations have planned to protest in multiple cities to denounce the proposed legislation that is to alter the structure of bar associations in Turkey. On June 29th, protests have been confirmed in Antalya, outside the Antalya Museum at 1700 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), and in Izmir, a march from the Ismir Mar Association Building to Kibris Sehitleri Caddesi at 1900 GMT. On June 30th, a protest has been confirmed in Istanbul, outside the Istanbul Palace of Justice at 1230 GMT.

Upcoming Nationwide Strikes in Italy to Take Place in Rome on July 2

The Unione Sindacale di Base (USB) has called for health workers in the public and private sectors to strike nationwide on July 2. An associated protest is planned for Rome at Piazza di Montecitorio starting at 10:30 local time. The action was called to protest increased privatization, and budget and staff cuts in the healthcare sector, amid other grievances.

Protests and Counter-Protests Expected in Barcelona on June 27

Protests and counter-protests are planned over the removal of the Columbus Monument in Barcelona. Protests are set to occur on June 27 at 12:00 local time. High tension is expected between the groups leading to potential violence and inadvertent danger to bystanders. Security forces may attempt to enforce COVID-19 regulations and forcibly disperse crowds.
