Underground Tube workers will be on 24-hour strikes on 3, 5, 24, and 26 August. The strikes intend to protest their management’s plan to abolish the night shift drivers’ pay grade. These strikes may develop into full protests. All Tube services throughout the capital will be affected on the strike days, likely resulting in many cancellations.
A protest has been scheduled in Mar del Plata, Argentina for 30 July at 16:00 local time at the Puerto de Mar del Plata Terminals 2 and 3. The demonstration calls for a new collective bargaining agreement for the equal remuneration of naval workers. Expected turnout is unknown.
Southern Europe is expected to experience one of its most intense heat waves this summer so far. It is predicted to intensify around 30 July and into early August, reaching temperatures of 40°C to 45°C (104°F to 113°F). Heatwaves can cause health disruptions to those at risk and environmental disruptions as it increases the likelihood of wildfires.

A march will will begin at the Avenida Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins and Avenida Ricardo Cumming intersection at 18:00 local time. The demonstrations are organized to demand the release of political prisoners from October 2019.
As of 28 July, there have been 2 deaths, 2 missing, and 3,268 people evacuated due to heavy rainfall. The increased rainfall has caused rivers to overflow causing severe flooding. Heavy rainfall is expected to continue in the coming days, worsening the situation.
A protest against COVID-19 restrictions is scheduled to take place on 31 July, time unknown. It is reported that security personnel will be deployed to these protests and arrest participants as these protests are unauthorized. This has been organized by groups who also organized protests on 24 July where they became violent after clashes between participants and authorities occurred.
Emergency crews are responding to a major fire at the Bayer plant in Leverkusen-Burrig on 27 July. Officials have not confirmed the cause of the blast. At least one casualty and another 12 were injured. Authorities have closed the A1 and A59 highway in both directions. Officials have instructed residents to remain indoors with windows and doors closed.
On 24 July fires began in the Oristano Province and have spread over 50,000 acres. This has led to over 1,500 individuals being evacuated. Emergency workers worry that the fires will spread into the Nuoro Province. The EU has sent aerial fighters over and a state of emergency has been set.
On 25 July Israel Defense Forces (IDF) directed retaliatory strikes at Hamas forces on the Gaza Strip. This occurred after Gaza militants sent incendiary balloons towards southern Israel. These balloons caused three fires, but no injuries have been reported. Further attacks may continue to occur.
On 23 July, the Costa Rica National Emergency Commission issued Red (high risk) and Orange (medium risk) ratings for the central and eastern regions of Costa Rica. Heavy rainfall caused approximately 500 landslides and flooding incidents, which will likely continue through 26 July 2021. Routes 10, 32, 36, 224, 225, 230, and 415 are closed in several places. Several individuals have been declared missing.
