Aviation workers in Azores, Portugal will participate in a partial strike starting on March 24; anticipate air travel disruptions.

Incident Details

Aviation workers have announced an indefinite, partial strike beginning on March 24. Workers organized the strike to protest privatization initiatives and other ambitions that could threaten their job security and damage current working conditions. The employees will continue to work regular hours, but will begin refusing overtime or agreeing to shifts on unscheduled days. There is no scheduled end to the strike, but consequential staffing gaps will likely disrupt normal operations of flights departing from and arriving to Azores.
