Scandinavian Airlines announced cancellations of over 1,000 flights in April, impacting airports in Sweden, Norway and Denmark. Cancellations are in response to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a consequence of the war between Iran and the U.S. and Israel. The Strait transports 20% of the world’s oil and natural gas. Its closure produced a surge in fuel prices, causing Scandinavian Airlines to reduce its flight itineraries. Anticipate further cancellations if the conflict endures into May and June.
