Public transportation workers are expected to strike for 24 hours across Milan, Italy, on October 9; expect severe public transit disruptions.

Incident Details

Public transit workers in Milan are expected to hold a 24-hour strike on October 9. The unions AL Cobas and Confial Trasporti organized the strike to oppose privatization, liberalization, and outsourcing of services run by Azienda Trasporti Milanesi (ATM). The strike will disrupt metro, bus, and tram service across Milan, with Italian law guaranteeing limited service from the start of operations until 8:45 AM and from 3:00–6:00 PM. Trenord regional trains are unaffected.

Traveler Safety

Travelers are advised to plan alternative transportation, expect limited availability due to increased demand, and avoid all strike-related demonstrations.
