Incident Details

Guatemalan authorities report ongoing volcanic activity at Fuego Volcano beginning on August 3 and intensifying on August 4. An orange alert, the second-highest on a four-tier scale, is in effect, and evacuations are ongoing. Road closures, most notably along National Route 14, are in effect, and operations at La Aurora International Airport may be disrupted if the wind shifts. Further air quality reducations and transportation disruptions are expected.
