Incident Details

Anti-corruption protests were organized by civil society groups on September 13 and 14 in response to the government’s misuse of funds allotted for flood control projects. Many residents lost their homes due to floods in July. Protests previously took place on September 11 and 12, in which protesters defaced government buildings. Expect major travel disruptions in urban areas as well as heightened security near government buildings. 2,000 police officers will be deployed to control these demonstrations.
