Public transportation workers for De Lijn will strike in Flanders, Belgium from March 16 to March 20.

Workers for the De Lijn public transport company in Flanders, Belgium will strike from March 16 to March 20, with one city striking each day. Workers will strike in West Flanders on March 16, Antwerp on March 17, Flemish Brabant on March 18, Limburg on March 19, and East Flanders on March 20. The workers strike over severe budget cuts to public transport that will affect De Lijn. De Lijn operates at least half of all buses and most trams in Flanders.

Aviation workers in Azores, Portugal will participate in a partial strike starting on March 24; anticipate air travel disruptions.

Aviation workers have announced an indefinite, partial strike beginning on March 24. Workers organized the strike to protest privatization initiatives and other ambitions that could threaten their job security and damage current working conditions. The employees will continue to work regular hours, but will begin refusing overtime or agreeing to shifts on unscheduled days. There is no scheduled end to the strike, but consequential staffing gaps will likely disrupt normal operations of flights departing from and arriving to Azores. 

Doctors will strike for 24-hours disrupting healthcare services across Greece on March 18.

Doctors affiliated with the Federation of Hospital Doctors’ Association of Greece (OENGE) have announced a 24-hour nationwide strike on March 18. The strike is in response to low wages and chronic understaffing in Greece’s public hospital system. OENGE is the main association of hospital physicians in the Greek National Health System, and represents tens of thousands of doctors and nurses in Greece’s public hospital systems. Healthcare disruptions are expected, though emergency department will operate with limited staff.
