  • Lanzarote, Spain: Protest Advisory | From March 25 to March 31, taxi drivers belonging to the Norte y Sur group in Lanzarote are threatening to protest against a proposed change to taxi regulations. This group includes taxis from Yaiza, Teguise, Tinajo, and Tias. SafeAbroad travelers are advised to plan for traffic disruptions and allow for additional travel time.

  • Nationwide, Argentina: Protest Advisory | On March 28, air travel workers in Argentina are set to kick off a 48-hour strike seeking higher salaries.   • Newtown, Australia: Protest Advisory | On March 31, in Newtown, Australia, expect possible travel disruptions due to a protest by LGBTQ+ activists supporting the Equality Bill, which would allow individuals to change their gender on birth certificates.   • Philippines: Security Advisory | From March 24-31, authorities will enhance security measures planning for the Christian Holy Week at key locations, including places of worship and public transportation hubs.   • Victoria, Australia: Protest Advisory | On March 28, unionized railway controllers and conductors will be striking from 3:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Demonstrators are disputing pay, tenure, and work-life balance. Travelers should monitor local media for information about travel disruptions and avoid strike-related protests.
Africa & Middle East
  • Nationwide, Morocco: Protest Advisory | From March 26-28, SafeAbroad travelers should expect healthcare disruptions in Morocco due to a strike by nurses demanding healthcare reforms. Make sure to carry identification and monitor the news for updates. 
  • Jordan: Weather Advisory | From March 22-25, the Jordan Meteorological Department has warned that severe rainfall may cause hazardous travel conditions across the country. Travelers should plan for possible travel disruptions and monitor the local news for updates.

On November 4, a red warning was issued for Barcelona, Spain, due to torrential rain and flooding.

On November 4, red warnings were issued for Catalonia due to heavy rainfall and flooding. Currently 15 flights have been cancelled and roads leading to the airport are blocked, causing severe disruptions to El Prat Airport in Barcelona. Several highways have been closed and all commuter trains in northeast Catalonia have been suspended.  This follows storms in Valencia which has killed at least 217 people.

As of November 4, a volcanic eruption at Lewotobi Laki-Laki on Flores, Indonesia, has killed at least ten people.

On November 4, Lewotobi Laki-Laki volcano erupted, spewing volcanic materials up to 2000 meters (6,561 feet) into the air. Hot ash hit a nearby village, collapsing houses and causing at least 10 deaths. At least 10,000 people have been affected in the Wulanggitang District. Due to increased activity, authorities raised the alert level to IV, the highest level in the Volcanological Survey of Indonesia’s (PVMBG) four-tiered system. Additional eruptions are possible.
