This event follows a CGT strike on February 19 that shut down public transportation, banks and schools. Travel disruptions should be anticipated. - Antigua, Guatemala: Disaster Advisory | A warning has been issued over coming days amid increased volcanic activity at the Fuego Volcano in Antigua, Guatemala. The National Coordination for Disaster Reduction (CONRED) in Guatemala issued an orange warning at the volcano for the coming days as smoke and ash erupts. - Middle East: Security Advisory | Security concerns have been heightened across the Middle East following airstrikes in multiple countries on February 28. Iranian missiles struck several countries following joint U.S.-Israeli strikes that led to airspace closures and shelter in-place orders in multiple nations. While most Iranian missiles were shot down, those that got through damaged infrastructure such as the UAE’s Zayed International airport in Abu Dhabi. These strikes have led to limited destruction outside of Iran, however the threat of further attacks still remains. Travelers are advised to follow official directives. - Mombasa, Kenya: Health Advisory | Doctors in Mombasa County, Kenya will strike over labor grievances starting on March 3 at 12:01 AM. The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union organized the strike over delayed promotions, unfair contracts, and unpaid dues after the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital CEO was suspended. Hospitals in Mombasa County will still provide emergency and life-saving care. Travelers are advised to seek medical treatment before March 3. - Middle East: Travel Advisory | Expect flight disruptions to persist over the coming days amid limited service following airstrikes in the Middle East. The threat to commercial flights posed by recent airstrikes has led to many providers cancelling services to Middle Eastern nations. Dutch provider KLM has cancelled many of its Gulf State flights until at least March 5 while other local providers such as Emirates and Etihad Airways have also cancelled flights until at least March 3.
