  • Ankara, Turkey: Security Advisory | The 36th annual NATO summit will take place from July 7 to July 8 at the BeĹźtepe Presidential Complex in Ankara, Turkey. The summit will be attended by Heads of State, defense leaders and other representatives of the 32 member states and key allies. Heightened security measures will be in place including checkpoints, road closures around the venue and airports, and a ban on public demonstrations effective from June 28 to July 10. The U.S. Embassy Ankara will not offer regular services from 29 to July 10. SafeAbroad travelers are advised to expect travel delays resulting from the heightened security measures. They should plan to avoid the area surrounding the BeĹźtepe Presidential Complex before, during and after the summit. 
  • Split, Croatia: Security Advisory | Ultra Europe 2026 will take place at Park MladeĹľi, Split, Croatia, from July 10 to July 12. The three-day event will begin at 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM and is expected to bring around 150,000 attendees to experience world class EDM and techno performances. The 2026 EDM roster includes prominent artists like Martin Garrix, Calvin Harris, and DJ snake. Following the conclusion of the festival, island and beach parties on the islands of BraÄŤ and Vis will attract the festival crowd. Due to the high-profile event, it is likely that heightened security will be in place for the event.   • Madrid, Spain: Security Advisory | The tenth anniversary of the Mad Cool festival will take place at the Iberdrola music space in Madrid, Spain, from July 8 to July 11. The four-day event will go each day from 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM and will host 70 world-class artists. The Mad Cool festival is expected to attract around 200,000 attendees over the four-day event. The artist lineup will include Halsey, Twenty-One Pilots, Charlie Puth, and Foo Fighters. Via Lateral de Servico M-45 and Avenida Real de Pinto will likely experience traffic congestions due to the festival. Heightened security around the event is likely.   • Aberdeen, United Kingdom: Travel Advisory | Aberdeen Airport security workers will strike from July 6 to August 1; travel delays expected. Unionized security and baggage handling staff at Aberdeen International Airport will strike in response to failed pay negotiations with ICTS HBS Security. The strike is expected to cause delays to baggage handling, security screening, and passenger processing services. Flight delays and longer wait times are likely throughout the strike period.   • Montreal, Canada: Protest Advisory| Protestors will gather at Place Norman-Bethune on July 11 at 2:00 PM. Anti-war protesters are organizing to denounce Canada’s involvement with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and increases in national defense spending. Expect increased pedestrian traffic and heightened security in the area. Disruptions may occur at intersection transit stops such as Station Guy-Concordia and Lincoln. SafeAbroad travelers are advised to avoid all protests and demonstrations. Travelers should also plan alternative routes and allot additional time for travel.  
  • Quebec City, Canada: Travel Advisory | Over 1.5 million festivalgoers are expected to attend the Festival d’étĂ© de QuĂ©bec, on July 9 to July 19 an 11 day music festival featuring artists such as Gwen Stefani and Michael BublĂ©. The festival will take place at the Plains of Abraham, converting many streets into pedestrian only zones. Additional security measures may be in place in the vicinity of the venue. Major roads such as Grande AllĂ©e will be closed at 3:30 PM on show days. Travelers are advised to plan alternative routes of travel and monitor official sites such as feq.ca for up-to-date information regarding road closures. 
  • Montevideo, Uruguay: Protest Advisory | A protest will take place in the capital, Montevideo, Uruguay, on July 8 at 9:00 AM. The protest is expected to last for 24 hours and lead to disruptions. The gathering will occur due to the Coordinating Committee of Public Sector Unions calling for the protest. They’re calling for more spending budget for state-owned enterprises. The group will gather outside the power company headquarters, which is owned by the state. The group will then march to the Executive Tower and will finish outside the Ministry of Economy and Finance. There is some potential for gatherings to form in urban areas, though they have not been announced. SafeAbroad travelers are advised to avoid all protests and demonstrations. Travelers should be cautious in urban areas and stay away from the impacted areas.
  • Toronto, Canada: Security Advisory | A massive annual multicultural festival will take place in Toronto, Canada, on July 11 and 12. The festival is called Worldfest Canada, and it is a multicultural festival. Approximately 100,000 people will gather in the streets of the city to participate in a fusion of foods, arts, music, and dance from diverse cultures worldwide. The event will be held in Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square, which is just a couple of blocks from Toronto Metropolitan University.   • Srinagar, India: Travel Advisory | Srinagar Airport (SXR) will suspend all passenger flight operations every Monday and Tuesday from July 1 through September 30 due to runway repair and resurfacing work. From Wednesday through Sunday, flights will operate on a restricted schedule between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM local time. Travelers should expect disruptions to flight availability, and schedules.   • New Zealand: Security Advisory | Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will conduct a high-profile diplomatic tour of New Zealand from July 10 to July 11, along with additional stops in Indonesia and Australia between July 6-10. This tour is to advance India’s Indo-Pacific strategy and strengthen defense, maritime security, economic, and technology partnerships. The visit includes bilateral meetings with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, as well as engagements with business leaders and the Indian diaspora. The New Zealand leg is particularly significant, marking the first visit by an Indian prime minister in approximately 40 years. Heightened security is expected around airports, government buildings, official venues, hotels, and major transport corridors, with temporary road closures, traffic delays, and access restrictions likely in Jakarta, Melbourne, Canberra, Auckland, and Wellington. The summit will feature ministers and senior officials from multiple Asian governments, increasing the security profile of the event. Travelers should expect an increased police presence, localized road closures, enhanced security screening, and temporary access restrictions around the conference venue and surrounding areas.   • Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Travel Advisory | From July 11 to August 22, the Dubai World Trade Centre will host Beat The Heat DXB Season 5, an indoor summer concert series. The festival will occur in Hall No. 8 and will feature influential Middle Eastern and North African artists, showcasing Arabic pop, rock, rap, Afrobeats, and contemporary Gulf music. The series kicks off on July 11 with popular Egyptian alternative rock band Cairokee and Jordanian-Palestinian Arabic pop star Issam Alnajjar. Additional performances throughout the summer include DYSTINCT on July 18, Tall Sam & Sultan Murshed on July 25, Rasha Rizk on August 1, and other undisclosed artists later in August. The festival attracts 3,500 to 4,500 visitors each year, so pedestrian traffic, transit congestion, and road delays are expected near the event site. Expect wildfire-related disruptions during and after ongoing fires in Northern Spain from July 3 onward. 

Significant wildfires continue to affect Northern Spain amid extreme heat and dry conditions, with more than 123,553 acres burned nationwide. Active fires include the La Bisbal d’EmpordĂ  wildfire in Girona, where strong tramontana winds hamper containment efforts, while fires in Zaragoza, Fontcoberta, and Navarre are subdued. Authorities warn that elevated wildfire risk could lead to additional outbreaks and localized transportation or access disruptions through July.
