  • Tirana, Albania: Protest Advisory | On April 30, demonstrators will protest outside Tirana City Hall, demanding the resignation of Tirana’s mayor surrounding a corruption case. Travelers are strongly recommended to avoid the area, as previous protests saw protesters throwing Molotov cocktails and smoke bombs. Plan journeys avoiding the area and accounting for transportation delays. 
  • Paris, France: Protest Advisory | On May 1, protesters will march from Place de la Republique to Place de la Nation in observance of International Workers’ Day. Travelers are advised to avoid the route of the march and plan journeys to accommodate for travel delays.

  • Argentina: Protest Advisory | On April 30, across Argentina, public sector workers will strike for 24 hours. The strike will impact services such as health care, public transport, administrative offices, and social services. Related demonstrations are currently unconfirmed. Avoid any possible demonstrations. Monitor local media for updates.
  • Chile: Security Advisory | Over the coming days, a curfew and heightened security presence will remain in place in Canete, Contulmo, and Tirua communes. The curfew and security measures follow a shooting on April 27, where three police officers were killed. Travelers are advised to obey all security directives and maintain a heightened sense of awareness.

  • Philippines: Protest Advisory | From April 29 to May 1, multiple transportation unions will demonstrate nationwide in protest of the modernization of city transportation. In Manila, protesters will start at the University of Santo Tomas and march down Roxas Boulevard toward the US embassy. Plan journeys to account for travel delays and reduced transit services. Avoid all protests.
  • Japan: Travel Advisory: From April 29 to May 5, Japan’s Golden Week holidays are likely to cause crowded transportation, increased security, and busy tourist attractions. Significant transportation delays are likely, including delayed flights. Travelers should exercise a heightened sense of awareness for pickpockets. Plan extra time for travel and reconfirm flights.
  • Melbourne, Australia: Protest Advisory | On April 30, protesters will gather outside the Austrian Consulate General at 4:30 PM. The demonstration is organized in protest of the Israel-Hamas war. Travelers are advised to avoid the area of the protest and plan extra travel time.

  • Cabo Verde: Protest Advisory | Through April 29, pilots of Cabo Verde Airlines in Cape Verde will strike, causing flight disruptions and delays. The National Union of Civil Aviation Pilots organized the strike due to a halt in negotiations regarding better working conditions for pilots and crew members. SafeAbroad travelers should avoid all protests. Travelers with scheduled flights should call the airline to confirm flights. Travelers should allow extra time at the airport as delays are likely.
  • Nairobi, Kenya: Protest Advisory | On April 30, Kenyan healthcare workers will meet at Kenyatta Hospital and march towards the National treasury, demanding that pay negotiations continue amid a strike regarding pay and working conditions.   • Suleja, Nigeria: Security Advisory | Over the coming days, heightened security measures, including checkpoints and potential building searches, should be expected due to a prison break on April 24. Travelers should keep doors locked at all times and comply with all security forces. 

Egypt: Security Advisory | Over the coming week, heightened security is expected across Egypt in the runup to Orthodox Easter on May 5. Security checkpoints and restricted travel and parking are likely, especially around churches, due to the threat of militant attacks during the holiday. Travelers should obey all security directives and carry identification papers with them.

On November 4, a red warning was issued for Barcelona, Spain, due to torrential rain and flooding.

On November 4, red warnings were issued for Catalonia due to heavy rainfall and flooding. Currently 15 flights have been cancelled and roads leading to the airport are blocked, causing severe disruptions to El Prat Airport in Barcelona. Several highways have been closed and all commuter trains in northeast Catalonia have been suspended.  This follows storms in Valencia which has killed at least 217 people.

As of November 4, a volcanic eruption at Lewotobi Laki-Laki on Flores, Indonesia, has killed at least ten people.

On November 4, Lewotobi Laki-Laki volcano erupted, spewing volcanic materials up to 2000 meters (6,561 feet) into the air. Hot ash hit a nearby village, collapsing houses and causing at least 10 deaths. At least 10,000 people have been affected in the Wulanggitang District. Due to increased activity, authorities raised the alert level to IV, the highest level in the Volcanological Survey of Indonesia’s (PVMBG) four-tiered system. Additional eruptions are possible.
