Mr. Gentry O. Smith assumed the role of Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security in August 2021. Throughout his extensive career, he has held key positions, including Director of the Office of Physical Security Programs, Regional Security Officer at the U.S. Embassy Tokyo and U.S. Embassy Rangoon, and Deputy Assistant Secretary, and Assistant Director for Countermeasures. Mr. Smith’s invaluable contributions extend beyond his DS role.
