Avoid areas in and around Hessen State, Germany, until December 1 following unruly political protests.

Violent protests and counter protests organized in and around Giessen until December 1. The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) held a convention to establish its new official youth organization, “Generation Germany” (GD). Counter protests have been reported since early November 29, with police employing water cannon and pepper spray to disperse several protests. Demonstrators reportedly used flares against the police in the Schlachthofstrasse area, as well as stopped and damaged vehicles in Hessen.

Health officials have declared an outbreak of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) in the Khomas region of Namibia since November 23.

There has been one confirmed fatal case of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) in the Khomas region of Namibia as of November 23. This potentially fatal virus is transmitted through tick bites, or contact with the bodily fluids of infected animals or people. It is a flu-like illness, with additional symptoms like abdominal pain and bleeding.

Expect heightened security and follow official directives amid states of emergency in several areas of Peru until at least December 21.

Peruvian authorities have extended the SoE in the Callao region and Lima until at least December 21, and declared an additional SoE in the Trujillo and Viru provinces until at least January 21, 2026 citing persistent criminal violence. These measures increase security presences, expand powers for searches, and implement more checkpoints, although no curfew has been announced. This coincides with recent anti-government protests and related unrest.

High-speed railway workers will strike in Madrid, Spain. 

Workers with the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) will strike between 12:01 AM and 11:00 PM from November 25 to 27, after extended failed negotiations with private rail company Iryo. The strike will be supported by 360 crew members and 13 office workers. This will reduce Iryo’s work capacity to governmentally mandated minimums, heavily affecting the high speed rail schedule in Madrid.

Expect exclusion zones near Mount Semeru in East Java, Indonesia over the coming days amid eruptions; anticipate residual travel disruptions. 

Level 4 alert at Mount Semeru after at least three eruptions were recorded on November 19, prompting the evacuation of around 1,000 nearby residents and climbers. Public activity is banned within 8 km of the crater and more than 20 km along the Besuk Kobokan corridor, with reports of several injuries and damage to a school building. Avalanches, earthquakes, further eruptions, ash fall, and lahars that could affect nearby roads, communities, and regional flights are expected.

Tropical Cyclone Fina hit Australia on November 21 and is expected to last until 24; exercise caution. 

On November 21, Tropical Cyclone Fina made landfall on the Cobourg Peninsula as a category 2 system and has now intensified to category 4. Cyclone Fina is currently heading south-west through the gulf. Thousands of people are without power. All airlines at Darwin International Airport (DRW) have suspended operations through November 22. Travel disruptions are expected. 

Nationwide demonstrations will occur in Brazil in the coming days due to the arrest of Jair Bolsonaro on November 22.

Former President Jair Bolsonaro was detained on November 22 after attempting to flee house arrest, resulting in a demonstration outside Bolsonaro’s Brasilia residence at 7:00 PM. Pro-Bolsonaro demonstrations are likely to occur nationwide in the coming days. Flashpoints include government buildings and offices of Bolsonaro’s Liberal Party. Heightened security and disruption is expected. 

Political protesters will gather in major cities throughout Europe on November 22, 23, and 26; exercise caution and expect disruptions.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) organized the protests on November 22, 23, and 26 to condemn the “Islamabad Massacre” in 2024 and to demand the release of Imran Khan, who is jailed in Pakistan. Khan was the Pakistani Prime Minister from 2018 to 2022, and was sentenced to 14 years in prison earlier this year in January for corruption. Known protests will take place in the capitals of Sweden, the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom, Greece, Denmark, Belgium, Switzerland, and Spain.

A nationwide protest will block highways in Mexico on November 24, causing major travel disruptions.

A nationwide protest by transportation workers will block highways on November 24, creating massive travel delays. Workers are protesting unsafe highway conditions and are in solidarity with farmers who demand higher prices for their agricultural products. Highways across the country will be blocked by large vehicles, including the Mexico-Querétaro Highway, the Mexico-Puebla Highway, and the Pan-American Highway (Mexico-Nogales).

Anti-government protests and intermittent strikes are expected to continue across major Argentine cities in the coming weeks. Weekly Wednesday demonstrations at Plaza del Congreso in Buenos Aires regularly draw unions, retirees, and civil groups, with additional actions often emerging with little notice. Expect recurring roadblocks, heavy police deployments, and travel delays near protest sites.
