Military Deployed to KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng Provinces as Riots Escalate in Sout Africa on July 12
On 12 July, authorities deployed the military to the Gauteng and Kwazulu Natal Provinces in response to ongoing violent protests. Hundreds of demonstrators have been arrested for rioting due to participation in looting, arson, and vandalism. As of 21:33 local time, at least 219 people have been arrested and at least six have been killed.
