Pro-Palestine protesters will cause disruptions throughout Rome, Italy on October 4. On September 22, tens of thousands of people took to the streets across Italy in support of Palestine. Milan and Rome saw the biggest crowds. At least 20,000 protesters turned out at Termini station in Rome, and 60 police officers were injured in Milan. The protests were coordinated by multiple trade unions. It is highly likely the protesters will block roadways, disrupt railway transportation, and engage in clashes with police. 

Exercise caution in Israel after recent drone strike, car explosion, and expanded IDF operations in Gaza.

Israeli military operations in Gaza have intensified in recent days; raising the general security posture in Israel and increasing the chance of further incidents, demonstrations, or disruptions to transport and services. Houthis wounded 22 people in Southern Israel on September 24 after launching a drone attack. On September 25, a car exploded in Tel Aviv injuring two people. Israeli police have identified it as a criminal incident.

Major European airports were hit by a cyber attack on September 20; expect travel disruptions.

A cyberattack at a provider of check-in and boarding systems disrupted operations on Saturday September 20 at several major European airports, causing flight delays and cancellations. Collins Aerospace, the company who makes the affected software, stated that the impact is limited to electronic customer check-in and baggage drop and can be mitigated with manual check-in operations. Affected airports include Heathrow, the continent’s busiest. Berlin airport and Dublin airport have also been affected by the attack. Anticipate delays and cancellations.

Nationwide protests to take place across the Philippines between September 13 and 14 amid government flood control project corruption.

Anti-corruption protests were organized by civil society groups on September 13 and 14 in response to the government’s misuse of funds allotted for flood control projects. Many residents lost their homes due to floods in July. Protests previously took place on September 11 and 12, in which protesters defaced government buildings. Expect major travel disruptions in urban areas as well as heightened security near government buildings. 2,000 police officers will be deployed to control these demonstrations.

Pensioners will continue to protest on Wednesdays indefinitely at Plaza del Congreso in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Pensioners are continuing to protest President Javier Milei’s pension cuts and demanding improved benefits throughout 2025. Prior protests have turned violent, with authorities dispersing crowds using tear gas and batons. Labor unions and civic groups often join, with 24-48 hour strikes by judicial, educational, and healthcare workers. Demonstrations are expected to continue through and beyond the October 26 midterm elections.
