Rail workers that are unionized members of Korail will strike indefinitely starting at 9:00 AM on December 23 to changes to their pay structure. Korail and its subsidiaries are government owned operations that account for the largest train providers in the country. The strike will also have significant impact on KTX and greater-Seoul area metro services. 

Expect heightened security throughout Taipei, Taiwan over the coming weeks following a knife attack.

A recent knife attack in Taipei on December 20 left 3 dead and 11 injured. The attack was carried out by a single man who perished in the ensuing chase. The mayor of the city pledged and increased security presence, which will likely be especially present near transportation hubs. This is likely because  part of the attack took place outside of  a main metro station.

The attack took place around 6:45 PM local time (2:45 AM ET) when two gunmen opened fire on a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach. Current reporting puts the death toll at 11 people from the designated terrorist attack. The immediate threat is over; one attacker is dead and the other in critical condition.

A transportation strike will cause disruptions and delays in Lima, Peru on November 14.

At least 1,500 people, including 200 foreign tourists, have been trapped in Tilicho, Khangsar, Pisang, Upper Manang, and Humde due to continuous snowfall, prompting the Nepalese Army to conduct a rescue operation. The Meteorological Forecasting Division has issued a special warning for sudden rises in river levels across Koshi, Bagmati, and Madhesh provinces. Heightened landslide risks, particularly in Koshi province are expected.
