Health officials have declared an outbreak of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) in the Khomas region of Namibia since November 23.

There has been one confirmed fatal case of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) in the Khomas region of Namibia as of November 23. This potentially fatal virus is transmitted through tick bites, or contact with the bodily fluids of infected animals or people. It is a flu-like illness, with additional symptoms like abdominal pain and bleeding.

High-speed railway workers will strike in Madrid, Spain. 

Workers with the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) will strike between 12:01 AM and 11:00 PM from November 25 to 27, after extended failed negotiations with private rail company Iryo. The strike will be supported by 360 crew members and 13 office workers. This will reduce Iryo’s work capacity to governmentally mandated minimums, heavily affecting the high speed rail schedule in Madrid.

Resident doctors in England, United Kingdom, will strike from November 14 to November 19; expect significant healthcare disruptions.

The British Medical Association (BMA) will strike from 7:00 AM on November 14 to 7:000 AM on November 19 over ongoing issues with the National Health Service (NHS) that have impacted salaries and job prospects for resident doctors—despite there being a significant demand for additional staff in most hospitals. The stoppage will disrupt various services at facilities funded and operated by NHS.

Health authorities warn of a measles outbreak in multiple regions of New Zealand as of October 24; exercise caution while travelling.

Eight cases of measles have been reported in Auckland, Nelson, Northland, Manawatū, Wellington and Taranaki that have been traced back to a Bluebridge ferry from October 3. Measles is an highly contagious disease that spreads through airborne particles. Symptoms may begin 7-14 days after infection with a fever, runny nose, Koplik spots, and a rash. Health New Zealand warns that additional cases are likely.

A 24-hour nationwide strike and corresponding 11:00 AM protest in Athens, Greece on October 14 will cause service disruptions.

In opposition to a new labor bill that enacts a 13-hour workday, the Civil Servants’ Confederation (ADEDY) and Athens Labor Center (EKA) will engage in a nationwide 24-hour strike and corresponding 11:00 AM protest on October 14 at Syntagma Square in Athens. Their demands are higher wages and an abolishment of the 2% levy. This strike will cause disruptions in healthcare, transportation, education, private businesses, and government.
