The Chikungunya fever has resulted in multiple deaths, with nearly 3,000 cases being reported in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Given increasing virus transmission and infection rates, red alerts have been issued from February 19 – 28. Chikungunya is a virus spread through a mosquito bite, causing fever and joint pain symptoms.
