Military Deployed to KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng Provinces as Riots Escalate in Sout Africa on July 12

Incident Details

On 12 July, authorities deployed the military to the Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal Provinces in response to ongoing violent protests. Hundreds of demonstrators have been arrested for rioting due to participation in looting, arson, and vandalism. As of 21:33 local time, at least 219 people have been arrested and at least six have been killed.
