Excessive snowfall traps thousands in Nepal on October 29 and still ongoing; exercise caution.

Incident Details

At least 1,500 people, including 200 foreign tourists, have been trapped in Tilicho, Khangsar, Pisang, Upper Manang, and Humde due to continuous snowfall, prompting the Nepalese Army to conduct a rescue operation. The Meteorological Forecasting Division has issued a special warning for sudden rises in river levels across Koshi, Bagmati, and Madhesh provinces. Heightened landslide risks, particularly in Koshi province are expected. 

Traveler Safety

Travelers are advised to avoid non-essential travel and reschedule  flights. Travelers should monitor the local media for weather updates and follow emergency directives.
