Estimated 200 dead following airstrike hit in Jilli Market in Nigeria on April 11; expect heightened security and demonstrations.

Incident Details

Airstrikes conducted by the Nigerian military on April 11 have resulted in an estimated 200 civilian deaths. The Nigerian Air Force launched an investigation with the military confirming that it had targeted a location in Jilli “long identified as a major terrorist movement corridor”. The strike was conducted in response to a raid on a Nigerian army base by  Islamist militants in which a commander and 6 soldiers were killed.
