As of September 23, the Popular Front of India (PFI) are holding ongoing ‘hartal’ protests across the Kerala and Karnataka regions, southwest India. This is in opposition to the arrest of numerous members for alleged terrorism links. Violent clashes between protesters and police have occurred across the regions. Protesters have also vandalised state-owned vehicles, which has resulted in civilian injuries. The violence is expected to last for at least the entire day.
