Fatalities and People Missing in West Germany and Belgium on July 16 Due to Intense Floods

Incident Details

As of 16 July, at least 100 people have been killed in Germany, 22 in Belgium, and over 1,500 have been reported missing due to heavy rainfall and flooding. The areas most heavily affected by the rain are Rhineland-Palatinate, North Rhine-Westphalia where 4,500 residents were evacuated due to structural damage to the Steinbach dam, and Saarland. Flash flooding and landslides have been occurring throughout the region.
