State of Emergency Remains as of June 2 Due to Flooding in South Island, New Zealand

A state of emergency remains for all of the Canterbury region on South Island due to the widespread flooding. Roadways in the area have been severely damaged, including the Ashburton Bridge on State Highway 1, causing major travel disruptions. Restoration efforts are underway. Adverse weather conditions will continue over the next few days.
