  • Amsterdam, Netherlands: Protest Advisory | Pro-Palestine protesters will march in downtown Amsterdam, Netherlands on March 30 at 6:00 PM. Multiple activist groups organized the demonstration to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Land Day. Participants will gather at Central Station before marching to Koningsplein, then Muntplein, ending at Dam Square. A previous Land Day march drew hundreds of participants. Expect heightened security and traffic delays around the protest route. SafeAbroad travelers are advised to avoid all demonstrations and plan additional travel time. Travelers should also continue to monitor local media for updates.
  • Amsterdam, Netherlands: Travel Advisory | Expect travel disruptions near the NDSM Docklands in Northern Amsterdam, Netherlands, from April 3 to 5 due to the DGTL music festival. This electronic music festival will feature over 100 artists, with events taking place during both the day and night. In 2025, this event sold out completely with an estimated 20,000 attendees per day. SafeAbroad travelers should expect crowded public transportation in northern Amsterdam and heavy congestion around the Docklands area.
Americas
  • Argentina: Protest Advisory | Nationwide, teacher unions including the National Federation of University Teachers have announced a five-day strike starting March 30 to April 3 to demand wage increases and denounce the failure to implement the University Argentina Law. Classes will suspend at universities across Argentina during the strike periods. Teachers in Argentina have continuously protested poor working conditions and wages since 2025. The Ministry of Education and other government buildings are potential flashpoints for protests in Buenos Aires, which may lead to localized road closures and transit delays. SafeAbroad travelers are advised to plan for disruptions to public services and anticipate traffic congestion near government buildings in major cities. Monitor local media for rally schedules and allow extra time for travel during morning and afternoon peak hours.
  • Bolivia: Travel Advisory | Multiple transportation unions have called for an indefinite strike in La Paz and El Alto to protest an ongoing gasoline shortage. The government failed to meet demands for vehicle damage compensation in a previous strike, resulting in an indefinite strike until their demands are met. The strike will disrupt buses, minibuses, and trufis. Expect roadblocks on major streets and heightened security near any strike activities. SafeAbroad travelers are advised to avoid all activities related to the strike and to follow all official directives. They should also anticipate a transportation shortage due to increased demand and traffic disruptions from the blockages.
  • Cuba: Disaster Advisory | Expect prolonged blackouts across Cuba to continue over the coming weeks. Cuba has been experiencing mass blackouts due to an oil embargo imposed by the United States following the operation in Venezuela and due to the island’s old energy infrastructure. Cuba experienced two total blackouts over the last few weeks on top of consistent power rationing measures. The arrival of a Russian oil tanker is expected to bring some power to the island, lasting up to two weeks. Travelers are advised to charge their devices when able. They should also avoid any protests that may occur.
Asia & Pacific
  • Philippines: Travel Advisory | Expect significant travel disruptions across the Philippines from April 2 through April 5 during Holy Week. Holy Week, also known as Semana Santa or Mahal na Araw, will result in travel delays. Severe travel congestion is expected on days with religious processions such as Maundy Thursday (April 2), Good Friday (April 3), and Easter Sunday (April 5). Heightened security surrounding key transport hubs and religious sites is expected during this time. SafeAbroad travelers are advised to exercise caution in public areas and avoid overcrowded roads. Travelers are also advised to monitor local news and social media for updates on road closures and delays.
  • China: Travel Advisory | Qingming festival is expected to create travel delays across China starting April 4. This festival regularly sees a domestic travel spike as many Chinese citizens are given a long weekend. 2025 saw an estimated an estimated 126 million trips within the country. Travelers are advised to build in extra time for travel plans during this period. They should also book any needed transportation services immediately.
  • Asia & Pacific: Travel Advisory | Additional flight cancellations are likely across both the Asia and Pacific regions over the coming weeks following fuel shortages associated with the conflict in the Middle East. Both regions are highly dependent on oil from the Middle East and therefore are heavily impacted by the ongoing conflict. Several nations have already cancelled flights, such as New Zealand which cut 1,100 domestic flights from between March 16 and May 4. The largest number of flight cancellations are expected in nations that heavily import refined jet fuel. Travelers are advised to monitor the status of their flights as their departure time nears. They should also monitor major media sources for updates.
Africa & Middle East
  • Dakar, Senegal: Travel Advisory | Public transit strikes will disrupt travel throughout Senegal from March 30 to April 1. Transportation workers are protesting poor working conditions. Multiple public transit unions are planning to strike across Senegal, mainly in the capital, Dakar. Various types of public transportation, including taxis, will be impacted by the strike. Demonstrations may occur in key parks and government buildings. SafeAbroad travelers are advised to avoid demonstration sites. Plan alternate routes or expect delays if using public transit. Monitor local news and social media for updates.
  • Kenya: Protest Advisory | Disruptions are expected until April 1 in urban centers across Kenya due to ongoing fuel shortages. Fuel supply has been severely restricted for citizens in Kenya because of the conflict in the Middle East. Iran’s decision to close the Strait of Hormuz has caused oil prices to skyrocket across the globe, and Kenya relies on the Strait to provide nearly 100% of the Kenyan oil supply. Disruptions are expected to impact Kenya’s major cities, including Nairobi and Mombasa, and may include protests and long queues at gas stations. Kenyan government officials claim that there is a stable fuel supply, and that price increases and apparent shortages are the result of price gouging and hoarding by retailers. Travelers are advised to limit trips through Kenyan cities at night and avoid government buildings and gas stations. If crowds start to gather, travelers should leave the area immediately.
  • Egypt: Security Advisory | Businesses across Egypt will close early over the coming weeks due to ongoing fuel price hikes. The Egyptian government mandated over the weekend that businesses close by 9:00 PM from Saturday through Wednesday and by 10:00 PM on Thursday and Friday. This measure is an effort to reduce power consumption and curb inflation. Travelers are advised to purchase necessary items earlier in the day. They should also expect heavier crowds and longer lines when shopping.
