Continue to exercise caution across Ecuador over the coming weeks as the 60-day state of emergency has been extended.

Incident Details

President Daniel Noboa has extended the current 60-day state of emergency (SoE) until at least January 5, 2026 in the following provinces: Bolivar, Cotopaxi, El Oro, Guayas, Los Rios, Manabi, and Santa Elena. This action is in response to internal unrest and violence from organized crime groups, and allows for unwarranted searches of homes and suspends the right to private communication.

Traveler Safety

SafeAbroad travelers are advised to exercise continued caution during the SoE and expect heightened security. Adhere to all official directives and liaise with local contacts to ensure safe movement throughout HIGH-risk areas.
