Incident Details

An outbreak of whooping cough (pertussis) in Ushuaia, Argentina, is mostly affecting adults.  There is 58 confirmed and 135 suspected cases. The disease spreads easily through coughs and sneezes and causes severe coughing, runny nose, fever, and fatigue; it can lead to serious complications but is preventable with vaccination and treatable with antibiotics.
