NEW HAVEN, CT — We are thrilled to announce that Linda Weissgold, former CIA Deputy Director for Analysis, will be a keynote speaker at the highly anticipated Safety Abroad Summit on September 14, 2023.
Linda Weissgold’s illustrious 37-year career at the CIA has been marked by exceptional contributions to intelligence analysis on complex global issues. As the CIA’s Deputy Director for Analysis from March 2020 to April 2023, she was at the helm of all-source intelligence analysis and the professional development of officers responsible for its production.
Notably, Linda played a pivotal role in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, volunteering for counterterrorism assignments. As the head of the CIA’s Office of Terrorism Analysis, her units provided invaluable insights that shaped US policy and operations, including the identification of Osama Bin Laden’s location and the emergence of ISIS.
A seasoned communicator with a profound understanding of urgent and contentious issues, Linda’s expertise and dedication have earned her recognition as a champion of analytic tradecraft, integrity, and objectivity in intelligence analysis. She served as President George W. Bush’s intelligence briefer for over two years, demonstrating her remarkable ability to provide critical and accurate information to the highest levels of leadership.
In addition to Linda’s exceptional career, her personal experience as a former study abroad student further enriches her perspective. Having navigated the challenges and opportunities of studying abroad, in conjunction with her distinguished career in the CIA, Linda is exceptionally positioned to offer comprehensive insights into ensuring the safety and well-being of students during their international education experiences.
“All of us at SafeAbroad are honored to welcome Linda Weissgold as a keynote speaker at the Safety Abroad Summit,” said Allison Mahr, Operations Manager at SafeAbroad. “Linda’s remarkable career at the CIA, coupled with her personal experience as a former study abroad student, brings a truly unparalleled perspective to the summit.”
