From September 18 at 10 PM to September 19 at 6 AM there will be a planned power outage nationwide in Ecuador to allow for maintenance work. The outage will impact transportation and businesses, leading to potential disruptions in internet service, ATMs, and fueling stations. Electronic security systems may also be affected, which could increase the risk of criminal activity.

Until at least September 19, severe weather due to Storm Boris will continue across Eastern and Central Europe.

Storm Boris continues to batter Central and Eastern Europe, bringing heavy rainfall and severe flooding throughout the region since September 12. Transportation has been severely disrupted in affected areas, with rail services suspended and hundreds of roads shut down across several countries. Thousands have been evacuated across Austria, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Romania, and Slovakia.

Costa Rica is experiencing an increase in dengue fever cases.

Cases of dengue fever, a disease transmitted by infected mosquito bites, are increasing in Costa Rica with 19,938 cases this year compared to 7,939 cases this time last year. The province of Alajuela is most affected. Symptoms include fever along with headaches, pain behind eyes, muscle/joint pain, rash, easy bruising, and/or nose or gum bleeding.
