Increased Risk of Violent Protests in France Due to Anarchist Group

On June 16th in Lille and Paris, France, clashes between protesters and police were reported. The anarchist group, “Black Bloc,” was identified as the lead cause in turning peaceful demonstrations violent. The anarchists join protests often wearing black clothing, ski masks, scarves, and other face coverings. Black Bloc anarchists stand in peaceful crowds and break windows, throw stones, and damage vehicles to instigate violence. Black Bloc may cause similar violence in future demonstrations.

Demonstrations in Vienna, Austria on June 20

On June 20 at 14:00 local time, a #LeaveNoOneBehind demonstration will take place. The march will start in Karlsplatz and end in Heldenplatz and coincides with World Refugee Day to express solidarity with refugees. The demonstration has a high probability of shutting down major roads and transportation lines.

Update: Protests Across Germany from June 15 to June 21

On June 19 at 15:00 local time, at the Alexanderplatz, a Black Lives Matter Protest will be held. The protest will be held to express solidarity with the growing international movement against racism and police violence. The protest has a high probability of shutting down major roads and transportation. There is also a moderate risk of incidental violence.

SEEBRÜCKE Protests in the Netherlands on June 20

The international movement SEEBRÜCKE has called for the staging of protests in eight cities on 20 June. The demonstrations are indicated to simultaneously begin at 14:00 local time as follows: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Tilburg, Leiden, Wageningen, Amersfoort, Utrecht, and Enschede. The protests denounce the living conditions of migrant families in detention camps and express solidarity with refugees.

Travelers in and around urban areas should exercise caution due to upcoming protests on June 13 and 14. Protests will be focused on discrimination and police violence. Due to social distancing regulations, gatherings of ten or more people in one place will be fined. These protests come after clashes with police in Paris, Lille, Lyon, and Marseille.

Black Lives Matter Protests in Australia on June 13

Activists plan to gather in multiple cities in Australia on June 13. The protests are to show solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, and denounce institutionalized racism. A demonstration was announced in Darwin, at the Parliament House, starting at 10 am local time. Another demonstration was announced in Perth, at Langley Park, starting at 12 pm.

Black Lives Matter Protests in Scotland on June 13

A demonstration is scheduled to take place in Edinburgh on June 13. The demonstration is organized in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement protests in the United States. Demonstrators are expected to gather at Melville Monument in St. Andrew square from 12pm to 3pm local time.

Unexploded Bomb Disposal in Poland 2020

On June 7, 2020 an unexploded bomb was discovered in Kolno, Poland. Residents within a 400-meter radius were evacuated to facilitate disposal. A section of the DK63 highway has been closed until further notice.

Black Lives Matter Protests Take Place Across Europe on June 6

On June 6th, there will be protests in France, Italy, Ireland, and the United Kingdom to denounce racism and police brutality. In Paris at 1400 local time, this will be in front of the US Embassy. In Ireland: Dublin at 1500 local time in front of the US Embassy, Limerick at 1400 in Arthur’s Quay Park, and Sligo at 1500 in Doorly Park. In Italy at 1500 local time, this will be at the US Consulate General in Naples. In the U.K., it will be at 1400 local time in Cambridge at Parker’s Piece.
