South African Elections Bring in Soldiers for Added Security from October 30 to November 3

The South African government has increased security measures due to upcoming local elections from 30 October to 3 November. Approximately 10,000 soldiers will be deployed at various locations during voting and provincial results centers while the results are finalized. There is an increased risk of violence in KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, Western Cape, and Eastern Cape.

Israeli Bus Drivers to Strike Nationwide on October 28

On 28 October, Egged Ta’avura, Superbus, and Dan South bus drivers are planning nationwide strikes. The strikes will take place from 13:00 to 17:00 local time. The Koach LaOvdim Democratic Workers’ Organization union planned the strikes to demand pay increases and the improvement of working conditions.

Security in Glasgow to Ramp Up Due to UN Climate Change Conference COP26

From 31 October to 12 November, increased security will be implemented throughout Glasgow due to the United Nations Climate Change Conference at the Scottish Event Campus, near the M8 Motorway. Approximately 10,000 police officers will be present each day for diplomatic security. Major roadways and highways nearby will include traffic stops and car inspections. Anticipate road closures and increased traffic.

Thailand Floods Expected Nationwide Through October 30

Heavy rains from the southwest monsoon have led to flooding of roads nationwide, especially in rural areas since 17 October. Disruptions to travel are expected until at least 30 October, with 22-25 October bringing the largest amount of rainfall, and roads have become blocked. Landslides are possible in mountainous areas.
