On July 25, a police standoff in the Spandau district of Berlin, Germany, ended in one death. Following his planned eviction, the individual barricaded himself and fired multiple shots at security forces. Roads remain under significant closure with an increased security presence.
On June 22, a wildfire caused mass evacuations in the central and southern regions of Rhodes, Greece. At least 19,000 tourists and residents were evacuated from villages and hotels across the region. Heavy smoke and limited visibility have resulted in cancelled inbound and outbound flights. Further evacuations are likely if the fire continues to spread.
A stabbing on July 21 left one dead and three injured near Sillim Station in the Gwanak-gu district of Seoul, South Korea on July 21. The perpetrator was apprehended by police shortly thereafter. Police believe the attack was motivated by a mental health episode, and is likely a standalone incident. The area remains taped off as the scene is assessed and cleaned up.
At 7:20 AM on July 20, an unidentified man entered a building under construction in Auckland, New Zealand and began shooting at workers and staff. The gunman killed two people and injured several more, before ultimately being killed by police. The gunman is believed to be a lone actor and officials believe any security threat has passed.

Temperatures across Southern Europe are expected to climb the week of July 17, increasing risk of heatstroke and wildfires. Countries such as Spain, Italy, and Greece are expected to see the sharpest increase, experiencing temperatures in excess of 110 degrees. Wildfires have been reported across the region, forcing evacuations and road closures.
Significant protests are expected in Lima, Peru from July 19-28 as part of the “Third Takeover of Lima. ” On July 14, the government expanded their state of emergency until August 13 due to these protests. Many rights of citizens have been revoked during this time, and the government has given their military control of all security operations.
1 person died and 2 were hospitalized after a stabbing at Diaconal Center De Bakkerij in Leiden, Netherlands at 9:30 AM on July 14. The center is known to be a shelter for the homeless, and the victims were workers there. A suspect was detained in the hours following the stabbing. There is still a heightened police presence in the area as authorities conduct their investigation.
On July 13, students attending Omar Bongo University in Libreville, Gabon began protesting and demanded that their scholarship funds be granted to the students. Students barricaded themselves in university buildings and blocked nearby roadways with burning tires. Police have used force to combat the lock-in, and will continue to be stationed around the university to crackdown on any additional protests.
