Anti-Immigration Protests in Durban, South Africa Between November 23 and 25

Incident Details

Anti-immigration protests organized by the uMkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans’ Association (MKMVA) are planned to occur in Durban from 23-25 November. The protests follow threats and attacks on foreign business owners which included forcefully closing and looting shops. Previous demonstrations resulted in the use of rubber bullets and tear gas by the police. Clashes between demonstrators and security forces are highly likely.
