Heightened security has been in place following the arrival of the police and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad. The hotel has been successfully evacuated, and a search operation is currently in place. Temporary closure of nearby metro stations and roadblocks around the mall are likely.
Torrential rainfall has caused severe flooding in Bangalore, India since September 5. The floods are expected to remain until at least September 10. This has resulted in travel disruptions across the city. Multiple buildings have been damaged and experienced power outages. Evacuations have been ongoing, but some people remain trapped indoors.
On 21 July a terrorist threat announcement was issued stating that terrorist attacks may occur leading up to the country’s Independence Day on 15 August. It is expected that militant groups will be the perpetrators. As a result, there is heightened security in place until at least 16 August.
On 27 March, 47 assembly constituencies will begin the first phase of elections for the Assam Legislative Assembly. The three phases will occur through early April and the votes will be counted on 2 May. On this day, political rallies will be likely and the largest gatherings will be in district capitals.

The protests, causing large disruptions, are led by farmers demanding abolition of agricultural bills passed in September allegedly hurting labor protections.
